Was goin through some old photos today of the abandoned towns of Barclay and Laquin and thinking how much I really hope the gas rigs don’t start popping up there. The place was once thriving due to a similar situation generations ago. That of people hoping to strike it rich with coal and lumber, alas, leaving a ghost town today after all had that was to be taken from the land was gone. Makes me wonder what will be left 100 years from now after the gas drillers tap the Marcellus Shale dry and leave what in their wake. maybe future generations will make their way through overgrown and abandoned towns only to take photos like this from the LaQuin days. Who knows??? I have attached a link to my barclay mountain and laquin page on facebook.
